NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Wes Livengood, pictured in his Cincinnati Reds uniform circa 1939. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1939, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Wesley Amos Livengood was born in 90 in Salisbury, NC and died in 996 in Winston-Salem, NC. He went to college at Duke University. He played major league baseball for a single season in 5 games in 939 as pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds. Wes Livengood was a pitcher 6 years (932-952), one in the Majors (939) and 6 in the minors (932;935;937--943;946-952), losing two years to the Military and three years to inactivity. After his playing days were over, he managed in the minors and scouted for the Philadelphia Phillies (952-982), where he discovered and/or signed players such as Bob Conley, Don Cardwell, Jimmie Coker, Mickey Harrington, Bill Champion, Craig Robinson, John Poff, Dickie Noles and Jerry Reed. He also owned and operated Carolinas Men's Shop and, later, the Livengood Furniture Company. SKU: GB10963
