The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1937, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: George Tucker Stainback was born in Los Angeles, CA and died in 992 in Camarillo, CA. He played major league baseball from 934 to 946 as outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Athletics, and appeared in the 942 and 943 World Series. After retiring as a player, Stainback helped organize the first pension system for major league ballplayers in 947. SKU: GB11372
