BIO: Anthony Andrew DePhillips was born in 1912 in New York, NY and died in 1994 in Port Jefferson, NY. He went to college at Fordham University. He played major league baseball for a single season in 1943 as catcher for the Cincinnati Reds. After his playing days he ran a sporting goods store and started up the first little league in Queens, known appropriately as the DePhillips Athletic League.
