BIO: Frederick Davis Wingfield was born in 1899 in Bedford, VA and died in 1975 in Johnson City, TN. He played major league baseball from 1923 to 1927 as pitcher for the Washington Senators and the Boston Red Sox. Wingfield helped form the Elizabethton Betsy Red Sox and served as president of the club for at least the first four years.
