| DATE SHOT: 1941-49 PRINT DATE: 1974 SUBJECT: Sid Gordon APPROXIMATE SIZE: 3-1/2"x5-1/2" MARKS / STAMPING: 1974 TCMA photo postcard of Sid Gordon with cut signature affixed that is hand-signed by Sid Gordon. Whether out of spite, or lack of notice of the note on the back of the postcard, it seems Sid signed neither side, but rather penned his signature on another piece of paper altogether which the auto seeker then clipped and affixed to the front of the card (where he had asked Sid to sign in the first place). If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: Sidney Gordon was born in 1917 in Brooklyn, NY and died in 1975 in New York, NY. He went to college at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. He played major league baseball from 1941 to 1955 as outfielder and 3rd baseman for the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates, and was selected in 1948 and 1949 as an All-Star. Gordon signed as a player-coach for the 1956 Miami Marlins. He later became an insurance underwriter in New York. He had two sons, Michael and Richard. Michael Gordon caught for three years in the minor leagues, never advancing beyond A ball. SKU: L00928
