BIO: Randall Pennington Gumpert was born in Monocacy, PA and died in 2008 in Wyomissing, PA. He played major league baseball from 1936 to 1952 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and the Washington Senators, and was selected in 1951 as an All-Star. On May 1, 1951, Gumpert became part of baseball history as he allowed Mickey Mantle's first home run.
