He went to college at Oregon State University. He played major league baseball from 1931 to 1934 as outfielder for the Boston Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds. Wes is an inductee of the Oregon State University Hall of Fame and was the first person to play in the Major Leagues from the school. At Oregon State he also played football and was an All-American with a nickname of Ironhorse. Charles Herbert Klein was born in Indianapolis, IN and died in 1958 in Indianapolis, IN. He played major league baseball from 1928 to 1944 as outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cicago Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates, appeared in the 1935 World Series, was selected in 1933 and 1934 as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980. Known as the "Hoosier Hammer." He was one of the most prodigious sluggers of the late 1920s and early 1930s. Klein won the National League home run title in 1929, his first full year in the majors. However, he was helped along by his teammates on the last day of the season. In this game, the Phillies faced the New York Giants. The Giants' star slugger, Mel Ott, was tied with Klein for the lead with 42. In the first game, Klein homered to put him one ahead of Ott, who was held to a single. In the second game, the Phillies' pitchers walked Ott five straight times--including once with the bases loaded. In 1933 Klein won the Triple Crown (.368, 28, 120), though Carl Hubbell took MVP honors. On July 6 of that year, he also became the first Phil ever to bat in an All-Star Game. In 1999, he ranked number 92 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players, and was a nominee for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team. James Wilson (Ace) was born in Philadelphia, PA and died in 1947 in Bradenton, FL. He played major league baseball from 1923 to 1940 as catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds, appeared in the 1928, 1930, 1931 and 1940 World Series, and was selected twice as an All-Star. Wilson returned to Cincinnati as a coach in 1945-46. Released along with Reds manager Bill McKechnie at the end of the 1946 season, Wilson moved to Florida and entered the citrus growing business. He died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 46 the following May in Bradenton. SKU: L05410
