NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Pete Sivess, pictured in his Philadelphia Phillies uniform circa 1936. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1936, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Peter Sivess was born in 1913 in South River, NJ and died in 2003 in Candler, NC. He went to college at Dickinson College. He played major league baseball from 1936 to 1938 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. Pete Sivess graduated from Dickenson College in Carlisle, PA and is enshrined in the college's Hall of Fame as the only four letter athlete in the college's history. As a pitcher he had a 20 and 7 record and upon graduation went straight to the Phillies and in 1936, 1937 and 1938 where he pitched in 62 games. He joined the Navy after Pearl Harbor, served in all three theaters and was decorated by the Czech and Russian governments for leadership during reconstruction.
