BIO: Paul Edward Runge was born in 1940 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada and went to college at Arizona State University. He played minor league baseball from 1962 to 1964 as outfielder, catcher and 1st baseman for the Modesto Colts, Durham Bulls and the Tri-City Angels. After retiring as a player, Runge was an umpire in the California League (1965-1966), Eastern League (1967), and Pacific Coast League (1968-August 1973). He then was a National League umpire from September 1973 to 1997.
