NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Newt Hunter, pictured in his Philadelphia Phillies uniform circa 1933. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1933, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Frederick Creighton Hunter was born in 1880 in Chillicothe, OH and died in 1963 in Columbus, OH. He played major league baseball for a single season in 1911 as 1st baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates. After his playing career ended, Newt Hunter was a Philadelphia Phillies coach from 1928 to 1930 and 1933. He scouted for the Boston Red Sox from 1934 to 1949 and the Phillies from 1950 to 1953.
