He played major league baseball from 1933 to 1934 as Chicago White Sox for the . Bocek played college baseball at the University of Wisconsin in the Big 10 and earned an engineering degree there. He and a pitcher named Nello Pacetti were the stars of the school's 1933 team. After his playing days, Bocek worked as an engineer.
