He played major league baseball from 1967 to 1984 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets, and appeared in the 1977 World Series.
