BIO: Johnny Leonard Roosevelt Martin (The Wild Horse Of The Osage) was born in Temple, OK and died in 1965 in McAlester, OK. He played major league baseball from 1928 to 1944 as outfielder and 3rd baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, appeared in the 1928, 1931 and 1934 World Series, and was selected 4 times as an All-Star. After retiring Martin tried his hand at managing minor league baseball teams. While managing Miami of the Florida International League he was suspended and fined for choking an umpire.

Grover Cleveland Alexander (Old Pete) was born in Elba, NE and died in 1950 in St.Paul, NE. He played major league baseball from 1911 to 1930 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and the St. Louis Cardinals, appeared in the 1915, 1926 and 1928 World Series, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938. Alexander was the subject of the 1952 biographical film The Winning Team, in which he was played by Ronald Reagan. Baseball commentator Bill James called the film "an awful movie, a Reader's Digest movie, reducing the events of Alexander's life to a cliché." Nevertheless, Alexander has the distinction of being the namesake of one President of the United States and having been portrayed on film by an actor who later became President of the United States.
