If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: Charles Walter Dressen was born in 1898 in Decatur, IL and died in 1966 in Detroit, MI. He played major league baseball from 1925 to 1933 as infielder for the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Giants. Dressen played as a quarterback for George Halas in the American Professional Football Association, prior to its name-change to the NFL, and then played a couple more seasons in the NFL. Dressen managed the 1934-37 Cincinnati Reds, 1951-53 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1955-57 Washington Senators, 1960-61 Milwaukee Braves and the 1963-66 Detroit Tigers. He was a Brooklyn Dodgers coach from 1939 to 1946 and a member of the New York Yankees staff in 1947 and 1948. Fred Girard Haney (Pudge) was born in 1898 in Albuquerque, NM and died in 1977 in Beverly Hills, CA. He played major league baseball from 1922 to 1929 as infielder for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. After his playing career ended, Fred Haney was manager of the Toledo Mud Hens from 1935 to 1938, then the St. Louis Browns from 1939 to 1941. Haney returned to Toledo in 1941-1942. He broadcast Hollywood Stars games on radio from 1943 to 1948, then was skipper of the Stars from 1949 to 1952, and the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1953 to 1955. The next season, he joined the Milwaukee Braves coaching staff and replaced Charlie Grimm as manager in midseason. He led the team to a World Series title in 1957 and a National League pennant in 1958. He remained at the helm of the club through 1959. Haney was the original General Manager of the expansion Los Angeles Angels in 1961 and served as the club's GM until 1968. He retired after the 1968 season, but stayed with the Angels as a consultant through 1977. In 2003 he was elected to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. Edward Raymond Stanky (The Brat or Muggsy) was born in 1915 in Philadelphia, PA and died in 1999 in Fairhope, AL. He played major league baseball from 1943 to 1953 as infielder for the Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, appeared in the 1947, 1948 and 1951 World Series, and was selected 3 times as an All-Star. His Giants manager Leo Durocher once summed up Stanky's talents: "He can't hit, can't run, can't field. He's no nice guy... all the little SOB can do is win." SKU: L15056
