If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: Fred Clifford Clarke (Cap) was born in 1872 in Winterset, IA and died in 1960 in Winfield, KS. He played major league baseball from 1894 to 1915 as outfielder for the Louisville Colonels and the Pittsburgh Pirates, appeared in the 1903 and 1909 World Series, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945. His brother Josh Clarke was his teammate at one point. Frederick Charles Merkle was born in Watertown, WI and died in 1956 in Daytona Beach, FL. He played major league baseball from 1907 to 1926 as infielder and outfielder for the New York Giants, Brooklyn Robins, Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees, and appeared in the 1911, 1912, 1913, 1916 and 1918 World Series.
