He played major league baseball from 1951 to 1960 as pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Athletics. Kiely’s achievement of winning 20 games in relief during a season while with the San Francisco Seals in the Pacific Coast League stands in sharp contrast to a middling career with the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Athletics.
