If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: Robert Moses Grove (last name Groves) was born in 1900 in Lonaconing, MD and died in 1975 in Norwalk, OH. He played major league baseball from 1925 to 1941 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston Red Sox, appeared in the 1929, 1930 and 1931 World Series, was selected 6 times as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. In 1999, Grove ranked number 23 on The Sporting News list of Baseball's Greatest Players. He was the second highest-ranked left-handed pitcher, after Warren Spahn.
