| SIGNER: Lee Rogers APPROXIMATE SIZE: 3-1/2'x5-1/2" MARKS / STAMPING: Hand-signed by Lee Rogers ORIGINAL or REPRINT: Original COMMENTS / CONDITION: Standard 3-1/2''x5-1/2'' postcard (featuring the ''Sand Lot Kid'' statue at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY on the front) which has been hand-signed by Lee Rogerscollector. Comes from a collection of signed postcards assembled by a collector in the late 1980s-early 1990's (judging by the signers). All autographs in this particular collection are on the same medium: a photo postcard of the "Sand Lot Kid" statue outside Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, NY. Some of the players signed the front (photo) side of the postcard, some the back, and a few signed both sides (just to be sure). The name and rookie year of the player is pencilled on the back of each card, assumedly by the collector. For the sake of time, only the signature side of each card has been scanned. See scans for signature quality and photo condition. BIO: Lee Otis Rogers (Buck and Lefty) was born in 1913 in Tuscaloosa, AL and died in 1995 in Little Rock, AR. He went to college at the University of Alabama. He played major league baseball for a single season in 1938 as pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He returned to the minors with the Montreal Royals of the International League (1939); the Minneapolis Millers of the American Association (1940); and Little Rock again (1940-1941); ending his baseball career at age 27. Rogers served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated the Spaulding athletic goods store in Little Rock, AR from 1939 to 1980 and officiated in high school games and Southwest Conference college games for 15 years. He died on November 23, 1995 at age 82 in Little Rock from complications of a heart attack suffered a month earlier at an Arkansas-Auburn football game. SKU: L08574
