BIO: John Walter Cooney was born in 1901 in Cranston, RI and died in 1986 in Sarasota, FL. He played major league baseball from 1921 to 1944 as pitcher and outfielder for the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Bees and the New York Yankees. He was the brother of Jimmy Cooney Jr. and son of Jimmy Cooney Sr.
