BIO: Jerry Dean Gibbs was born in 1938 in Grenada, MS and went to college at the University of Mississippi. He played major league baseball from 1962 to 1971 as catcher for the New York Yankees. Gibbs was also a quarterback on the college football team at the University of Mississippi and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. After his major league career ended, he returned to Mississippi and was their baseball coach for 19 seasons (1972-1990).
