BIO: Hugh Reid Poland was born in Tompkinsville, KY and died in 1984 in Guthrie, KY. He went to college at Western Kentucky University. He played major league baseball from 1943 to 1948 as catcher for the New York Giants, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds.
