COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Harry W Taylor, pictured in his Chicago Cubs uniform circa 1932. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1932, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Harry Warren Taylor was born in 907 in McKeesport, PA and died in 969 in Toledo, OH. He played major league baseball for a single season in 0 games in 932 as st baseman for the Chicago Cubs. He broke into Organized Baseball in 928 at age 20 with Coleman in the West Texas League. He played for Coleman (928); Rochester in the International League (928); San Angelo in the West Texas League (929); and the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League (929-93). Taylor was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 4, 932, with the Chicago Cubs. He played for the Cubs in ten games with eight at bats, a run, a walk and a strikeout but only one game at first base with five putouts. He played his final MLB game on May 28, 932 at age 24. He returned to the minors with Reading-Albany of the International League (IL) (932); the Albany Senators (IL) (933); the Atlanta Crackers of the Southern Association (SA) (934); the Syracuse Stars (IL) (935); the Chattanooga Lookouts (SA) (936); the Minneapolis Millers of the American Association (AA) (937-939); the Toledo Mud Hens (AA) (939-940); Tiffin in the Ohio State League (94); Jackson in the Southeastern League (942); Newark (IL) (943); and Binghamton in the Eastern League (943); ending his baseball career at age 35. Taylor served in the U.S. Navy during World War II (BN). For 4 years he was a checker for the Lakefront Dock Company and for six years a personnel manager for Toledo Steel Products Company.
