NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Hans Lobert, pictured in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform circa 1940-41. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1940-41, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: John Bernard Lobert (Honus, Hans) was born in Wilmington, DE and died in 968 in Philadelphia, PA. He went to college at Carnegie Mellon University. He played major league baseball from 903 to 97 as shortstop, 2nd baseman, and 3rd baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Giants. He went on to manage in the minor leagues in the 920s and 30s, coached for the Phillies from 934-94, managed the Phillies in 942, and coached for the Cincinnati Reds from 943-44. SKU: GB10710
