BIO: George Lee Altman (Big George) was born in 1933 in Goldsboro, NC and went to college at Tennessee State University. He played major league baseball from 1959 to 1967 as outfielder for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets, and was selected twice as an All-Star. He moved on to Japan in 1968, playing as a very popular player for the Orions through 1974 and for the Tigers in 1975.
