BIO: Eugene Richard Woodling was born in Akron, OH and died in 2001 in Barberton, OH. He played major league baseball from 1943 to 1962 as outfielder for the Cleveland Indians, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators and the New York Mets, appeared in the 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 World Series, and was selected in 1952 as an All-Star. Before coming to the majors, Woodling was a four-time Minor League batting champion. When his former "platoon mate" Bauer became manager of the Orioles, Woodling served as his first-base coach between 1964 and 1967. His biggest contribution to baseball may have come off the field. He worked to help bring a pension fund for major league players. SKU: GB12406
