He played major league baseball from 1944 to 1957 as infielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Boston Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Red Sox. After nine seasons as a journeyman middle infielder and three seasons as a player-manager in the minor leagues, Gene Mauch went on to manage four major league clubs. His record in his short time in the minors was outstanding, as he won the American Association playoffs at the helm of the Minneapolis Millers in both 1958 and 1959. He also managed the Philadelphia Phillies (1960-68), Montreal Expos (1969-75), Minnesota Twins (1976-80), and the California Angels (1981-83, 85-87). In 2004 he was elected to the Pacific Coast League Hall of Fame. SKU: L14796
