NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Frank Secory, pictured in his Chicago Cubs uniform circa 1944-46. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1944-46, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Frank Edward Secory was born in Mason City, IA and died in 995 in Port Huron, MI. He went to college at Western Michigan University. He played major league baseball from 940 to 946 as outfielder for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs, and appeared in the 945 World Series. After his major league career ended with the Cubs in 946, he became an umpire in the West Texas-New Mexico League in 948 and the Texas League from 949 to 95. Secory became a National League umpire from 952 to 970, and worked in the World Series in 957, 959, 964 and 969, serving as crew chief in 964. He also officiated in the All-Star Game in 955, 958, 96 (second game), 964, 967 and 970. SKU: GB11369
