NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Ernie White, pictured in his St. Louis Cardinals uniform circa 1940. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1940, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Ernest Daniel White was born in 1916 in Pacolet Mills, SC and died in 1974 in Augusta, GA. He played major league baseball from 1940 to 1948 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Braves, and appeared in the 1942 World Series. He was a player-coach with the Boston Braves in 1947 and 1948 and a member of the New York Mets coaching staff in 1963. He also managed 15 years in the minors. SKU: GB12519
