If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. BIO: Edward Stewart Plank (Gettysburg Eddie) was born in Gettysburg, PA and died in 1926 in Gettysburg, PA. He went to college at Gettysburg College. He played major league baseball from 1901 to 1917 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Terriers, and the St. Louis Browns, appeared in the 1905, 1911, 1913 and 1914 World Series, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1946. In 1999, he ranked 68th on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players, and was a nominee for the Major League Baseball All-Century Team. Plank is mentioned in the poem "Lineup for Yesterday" by Ogden Nash: P is for Plank, The arm of the A's; When he tangled with Matty, Games lasted for days. SKU: L13906
