NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Earl Webb, pictured in his Detroit Tigers uniform circa 1932-33. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1932-33, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: William Earl Webb was born in White County, TN and died in 1965 in Jamestown, TN. He played major league baseball from 1925 to 1933 as outfielder for the New York Giants, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox. He coached the Chicago White Sox from 1935-39. In 1936, Webb returned to the minor leagues with the Knoxville Smokies. He tied Doug Taitt for the Southern Association lead in homers, was among the average leaders and tied for fifth in RBI. In '37, he slipped to .278/7/56 with Knoxville and retired. SKU: GB12851
