He played major league baseball for a single season in 3 games in 1937 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He was presumably named "Thin Man" because he was 6 ' 1 " and 165 lbs., and because the movie "The Thin Man" had come out in 1934 and its sequel "After The Thin Man" had come out in 1936.
