NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Cy Perkins, pictured in his Detroit Tigers uniform circa 1934. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1934, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Ralph Foster Perkins was born in Gloucester, PA and died in 963 in Philadelphia, PA. He played major league baseball from 95 to 934 as catcher for the Philadelphia Athletics, New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers. Following his playing career, Perkins coached for 7 years in the major leagues, with the Yankees (932-33), Tigers (934-39) and Philadelphia Phillies (946-54). He worked with two World Series champions, the Yankees of 932 and the Tigers of 935, and for the Phillies' National League champion team in 950. He also managed Detroit in 937 (along with Cochrane and Del Baker) and posted a 6-9 record. SKU: GB10510
