BIO: Carl Alvin Scheib was born in 1927 in Gratz, PA and died in 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He played major league baseball from 1943 to 1954 as pitcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. A true baseball wunderkind, Carl Scheib was the youngest player in the history of the American League. He debuted with the Philadelphia Athletics at age 16 years, 8 months, and 5 days. Perhaps equally amazing is that he left the Majors at the still young age of 27 - after an 11-year pitching career! Scheib was occasionally used as an extra outfielder and pinch hitter. SKU: GB12963
