BIO: Calvin Edwin Ripken Jr. (Iron Man) was born in 1960 in Havre De Grace, MD. He played major league baseball from 1981 to 2001 as shortstop and 3rd baseman for the Baltimore Orioles, appeared in the 1983 World Series, was selected 19 times as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. He also received the 1982 American League Rookie of the Year Award, the 1983 and 1991 MLB Player of the Year Award, 1983 and 1991 American League MVP Award, 1991 MLB MVP, 1991 MLB Player of the Year Award, and the 1991 and 1992 American League Gold Glove Award. Ripken played in every Orioles game from May 30, 1982 to September 19, 1998, an unbroken streak of 2,632 consecutive games. On January 9, 2007 it was announced that Ripken had received 537 of 545 votes for the Hall of Fame. He is the brother of Billy Ripken and the son of manager Cal Ripken Sr. SKU: BB1555
