He played major league baseball from 1952 to 1953 as outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Davis was briefly a major league ballplayer, but he achieved more fame after that. First, he was often the subject of jokes told by Joe Garagiola on the Johnny Carson TV show and elsewhere, and second, he spent over 50 years in professional baseball, mostly as a scout. He managed the Greensboro Patriots in 1968, as part of a six-season minor league managing career. He was also a Philadelphia Phillies coach in 1972. SKU: L14035
