BIO: Robert Lee Johnson (Indian Bob) was born in 1905 in Pryor, OK and died in 1982 in Tacoma, WA. He played major league baseball from 1933 to 1945 as outfielder for the Philadelphia Athletics, Washington Senators and the Boston Red Sox, and was selected 8 times as an All-Star. Bob was called "Indian Bob" because he was part Cherokee. He played semi-pro ball, and when his brother Roy signed with the pros, Bob felt he was just as talented. Bob failed in several tryouts, however, not starting in pro ball until 1929 with Wichita. In 1931-32, he became a high-average power hitter in the minors. After his major league days he played in the minors again, with his last season in 1951 in Tijuana.
