NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Bob L Johnson, pictured in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform circa 1933-42. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1933-42, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Robert Lee Johnson (Indian Bob) was born in 905 in Pryor, OK and died in 982 in Tacoma, WA. He played major league baseball from 933 to 945 as outfielder for the Philadelphia Athletics, Washington Senators and the Boston Red Sox, and was selected 8 times as an All-Star. Bob was called "Indian Bob" because he was part Cherokee. He played semi-pro ball, and when his brother Roy signed with the pros, Bob felt he was just as talented. Bob failed in several tryouts, however, not starting in pro ball until 929 with Wichita. In 93-32, he became a high-average power hitter in the minors. After his major league days he played in the minors again, with his last season in 95 in Tijuana. SKU: GB11029
