The photo has been signed in the lower margin by Beard in black sharpie as shown. One of several Polaroids taken by the same collector in 1985, many of which are signed by their respective subjects. BIO: Robert Eugene Dernier (White Lightning) was born in 1957 in Kansas City, MO. He played major league baseball from 1980 to 1989 as outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs, and appeared in the 1983 World Series. Dernier earned a Gold Glove Award at center field in 1984. He was called "White Lightning" because he was fast (218 career stolen bases) and because the stereotypes of his day assumed that all fast players must be black.
