BIO: William George Rogell was born in 1904 in Springfield, IL and died in 2003 in Sterling Heights, MI. He played major league baseball from 1925 to 1940 as infielder for the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs, and appeared in the 1934 and 1935 World Series. In a strange play in the 1934 World Series, a throw by Rogell knocked out baserunner Dizzy Dean who was pinch-running. It led to the quite possibly apochryphal headline "X-Rays of Dean's Head Revealed Nothing". After his baseball days, Rogell was on the Detroit City Council for 38 years. SKU: GB12829
