He played major league baseball from 995 to present as shortstop for the New York Yankees, appeared in the 996, 998, 999, 2000, 200, 2003 and 2009 World Series, was selected 0 times (as of 2009) as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020. Jeter was the 996 American League Rookie of the Year, and as of 2009 has won 4 Gold Glove Awards and 4 Silver Slugger Awards at shortstop. Joseph Paul Torre was born in 940 in Brooklyn, NY. He played major league baseball from 960 to 977 as catcher and infielder for the Milwaukee Braves, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets, was selected 9 times as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 204. Torre was the 97 National League MVP and Major League Player of the Year, and was the American League Manager of the Year in both 996 and 998. He also earned a Gold Glove Award as a catcher in 965. After his playing career, Torre went on to manage the New York Mets (977-8), Atlanta Braves (982-84), St. Louis Cardinals (990-95), New York Yankees (996-2007) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (2008-present).
