BIO: Carlton Ernest Fisk (Pudge) was born in 1947 in Bellows Falls, VT and went to college at the University of New Hampshire. He played major league baseball from 1969 to 1993 as catcher for the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox, appeared in the 1975 World Series, was selected 11 times as an All-Star, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000. Fisk was the 1972 American League Rookie of the Year. In 1999, SABR named Fisk the 92nd greatest player of the 20th century. USA Today named Fisk the greatest athlete from Vermont. Using a different criteria, Fisk was named New Hampshire's most outstanding athlete by Sports Illustrated. In 2005, Fisk was feted at Fenway Park where the left field foul pole was renamed "Fisk Pole." Also, a statue of Fisk was unveiled in August 2005 at New Comiskey Park in Chicago.
