As with original negatives, it can be used to produce high-quality photographic prints (no print is included with this item though). Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to the mount's edges, but see scans for further details including film condition. If you have any questions about a particular piece, please ask before the auction ends. Patrick Corrales (Ike) was born in 1941 in Los Angeles, CA. He played major league baseball from 1964 to 1973 as catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and the San Diego Padres, and appeared in the 1970 World Series. After his playing career ended, catcher Pat Corrales became a Texas Rangers coach in 1975 and took over as the club's manager in the final game of the 1978 season. He guided the team for two more years. He was skipper of the Philadelphia Phillies in 1982 and 1983 and the Cleveland Indians from 1983 to 1987. The Phillies were in first place in a tight NL East race when they fired Corrales and replaced him with front office executive Paul Owens, who led them to the World Series. The club was 43-42 at the time. For his part, Corrales finished the season in last place with the Indians. He therefore has the unique distinction of managing first place and last place teams in the same season. With the Indians, he managed to lead the team to a rare winning season in 1986 (although the team was still only 5th in the tough AL East). This however ratcheted up expectations for 1987 sky high: in spring training, Sports Illustrated published a cover with a picture of the team and the headline "Best Team in the Majors ?" When the Indians regressed to mediocrity, he was fired at the All-Star break. After managing the Detroit Tigers' AAA afiliate in 1988, he was a New York Yankees coach in 1989, and from 1990 to 2006, he was a member of the Atlanta Braves staff, all the time under manager Bobby Cox. He was rumored to be Cox's heir apparent in Atlanta, but Cox outlasted him. In 2007, he joined the Washington Nationals as bench coach. Type 2 = A 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, during a later period (more than two years after the shot was taken). Type 3 = A 2nd generation photograph, developed from a duplicate negative or wire transmission, during the period. Type 4 = A 2nd generation photograph (or 3rd or later generation), developed from a duplicate negative or wire transmission, during a later period. Original = A 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, which appears to be of the period but for which a print date cannot be determined for definitive Type classification. Essentially, a photo we feel is a Type 1, but which lacks certain elements necessary for definitive dating of the print.
