He played major league baseball from 1975 to 1992 as catcher, third baseman and pinch hitter for the Kansas City Royals, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees, and appeared in the 1985 and 1990 World Series.
