1973 Rangers JIM BIBBY & BOB SHORT Celebrate 1st No-Hitter Vintage Wire Photo

Texas Ranger pitcher Jim Bibby and Rangers owner Bob Short (right) are jubilant after Bibby's no-hit, no-run feat against the Oakland A's here 7/30. Short gave Bibby a $5,000 retroactive raise. This was the first no-hit, no-run game for the Texas Rangers since their existence, two years ago.

BIO: James Blair Bibby was born in 1944 in Franklinton, NC and died in 2010 in Lynchburg, VA. He went to college at Fayetteville State University. He played major league baseball from 1972 to 1984 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates, appeared in the 1979 World Series, and was selected in 1980 as an All-Star.
