BIO: Nelson Kelley Briles was born in 1943 in Dorris, CA and died in 2005 in Orlando, FL. He went to college at Santa Clara University. He played major league baseball from 1965 to 1978 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and the Baltimore Orioles, and appeared in the 1967, 1968 and 1971 World Series. After retiring, Briles was a broadcaster for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Seattle Mariners and held a front office position with the Pirates. He died at age 61 after suffering a heart attack at a Pirates alumni golf tournament.
