He went to college at the University of Arizona. He played major league baseball from 1933 to 1942 as outfielder and 1st baseman for the New York Giants and the Chicago Cubs, appeared in the 1936 and 1937 World Series, and was selected 3 times as an All-Star. August Rodney Mancuso (Blackie) was born in Galveston, TX and died in 1984 in Houston, TX. He played major league baseball from 1928 to 1945 as catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies, appeared in the 1930, 1931, 1933, 1936 and 1937 World Series, and was selected in 1935 and 1937 as an All-Star.
