Minnesota Twins' Earl Battey falls to ground after being hit on back with ball pitched by Baltimroe Orioles' Eddie Watt in 5th inning of American League contest in Twin Cities Sunday. Battey, the Twins' catcher, injured his left knee as he fell to the ground and was forced to leave the game.

BIO: Earl Jesse (Jr.) Battey was born in 1935 in Los Angeles, CA and died in 2003 in Ocala, FL. He played major league baseball from 1955 to 1967 as catcher for the Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins, appeared in the 1965 World Series, and was selected 4 times as an All-Star. Battey earned a total of 3 Gold Glove Awards as a catcher over the course of his playing career.
