The St. Louis Cardinals have sent relief pitcher Barney Schultz ® to the minor league Jacksonville, Fla. Club and called up Dave Ricketts (L) as substitute catcher for ailing catchers Tim McCarver and Bob Uecker. Ricketts will join the club in Milwaukee 8/10. He went to college at Duquesne University. He played major league baseball from 963 to 970 as catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates, and appeared in the 967 and 968 World Series. Dave Ricketts was the brother of Dick Ricketts. After retiring, Ricketts was a coach for the Pirates (97-973) and Cardinals (974-975, 978-99). He died of cancer in 2008, a day after his 73rd birthday. George Warren Schultz was born in 926 in Beverly, NJ and died in 205 in Edgewater Park Township, PA. He played major league baseball from 955 to 965 as pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs, and appeared in the 964 World Series. SKU: XP11712
