WASHING OUT A PAIR OF SOXRed Sox third baseman Frank Malzone, a forceout victim at second, is sprawled in front of fallen Yankee second sacker Billy Martin as latter's throw to Eddie Robinson at first doubles up Sox pitcher Willard Nixon in fourth inning of game yesterday. Twin killing was started on Nixon's grounder to shortstop Gil McDouglad whose throw to second got Malzone. Boston won 7 to 3.

BIO: Alfred Manuel Martin was born in 928 in Berkeley, CA and died in 989 in Johnson City, NY. He played major league baseball from 950 to 96 as infielder for the New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Braves and the Minnesota Twins, appeared in the 95, 952, 953, 955 and 956 World Series, and was selected in 956 as an All-Star. After retiring in 96, Martin worked as a scout for the Minnesota Twins from 962 to 964, and a Twins coach from 965 to May of 968. He then replaced Johnny Goryl as manager of the Denver Bears for the rest of 968, and the Minnesota Twins in 969. He then went on to manage the 969 Minnesota Twins, 97 to 973 Detroit Tigers, 973 to 975 Texas Rangers, 975 to 979 New York Yankees (including the 977 World Champion team), 980 to 982 Oakland Athletics, and the 983, 985 and 988 New York Yankees. Martin was killed in a car accident on Christmas 989.
Frank James Malzone was born in 930 in Bronx, NY and died in 205 in Needham, MA. He played major league baseball from 955 to 966 as 3rd baseman for the Boston Red Sox and the California Angels, and was selected 6 times as an All-Star.
William Edward Robinson was born in 920 in Paris, TX and died in 202 in Bastrop, TX. He played major league baseball from 942 to 957 as st baseman for the Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Athletics, New York Yankees, Kansas City Athletics, Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles, appeared in the 948 and 955 World Series, and was selected 4 times as an All-Star. Eddie Robinson was the field director for the Baltimore Orioles in 96. Hw moved to the Houston Colt .45s as the assistant GM in 962-963 and farm director in 964-965. He was the Kansas City A's director of player development in 967. He was with the Atlanta Braves as farm director from 968 to 972 and General Manager from 973 to 976. Robinson moved on to the Texas Rangers as GM from 977 to 982. From 993 to 996, he was the New York Yankees assistant coordinator of scouting.
Willard Lee Nixon was born in 928 in Taylorsville, GA and died in 2000 in Rome, GA. He went to college at Auburn University. He played major league baseball from 950 to 958 as pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. After baseball, he returned to Georgia to work as a purchasing agent for Pepperell Mills, the company for whose semi-pro team he had starred as a youngster, then as a court investigator, chief of police, and transportation director for a county school system. He retired in 989. He was elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 993.
