BIO: Edward Raymond Stanky (The Brat or Muggsy) was born in 1915 in Philadelphia, PA and died in 1999 in Fairhope, AL. He played major league baseball from 1943 to 1953 as infielder for the Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Braves, New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, appeared in the 1947, 1948 and 1951 World Series, and was selected 3 times as an All-Star. His Giants manager Leo Durocher once summed up Stanky's talents: "He can't hit, can't run, can't field. He's no nice guy... all the little SOB can do is win." Solomon Joseph Hemus was born in 1923 in Phoenix, AZ and died in 2017 in Houston, TX. He played major league baseball from 1949 to 1959 as infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was player-manager of the St. Louis Cardinals in 1959 and led the club for a season and a half after that year. He was a New York Mets coach in 1962 and 1963 and a member of the Cleveland Indians staff in 1964 and 1965. A St. Louis-based photographer, George Dorrill served as the Cardinals' official photographer from the 1940s to the 1960s. Dorrill's work also appears on many of the team-issued press photos of the other St. Louis home team, the Browns. In addition, Dorrill contributed photos to many sports maagazines of the era, incuding Sporting News-issued photos during the WWII period. SKU: XP12498
